Spotlight: local publisher Capstone
From their website, “Capstone Games is a publisher of modern board games that feature rich, evolving gameplay. We bring friends and family together for a fun, social experience through the medium of board games.” Capstone is a local game publisher here in Cincinnati—their warehouse and store are just up 75 from us! And they make all kinds of thinky, pretty, fascinating games.
This week Christopher High from their team will be at Free Parking on Wednesday evening to demo one of their new games and I’m so excited! I playtested Meltwater with Christopher as he was working on clarifying the rules, so I’m excited to see what he’s got to show us. We love supporting our local game community, whether it’s James Loves Games and his Big Chicken card game, local designers running playtests in the bar, or our established publishers—it’s not a huge hobby, as these things go, and the very nature of games is that we do it together.
If you haven’t been out to the bar on a Wednesday for Community Game Night, now’s the time! Come meet Christopher, try out the new game, and make some more connections.
Friends, keep warm, keep heart, and keep playing.

Play a Capstone Game!
We’ve got a handful of games from our friends at Capstone. Here are minimalist, pithy reviews of each one:
Ark Nova: build a coooool zoo, close to life-sized
Beer & Bread: brew beer, bake bread, pass cards
Pagan: Fate of Roanoke: two-player Werewolf
Curious Cargo: a network of pipes that will make your brain hurt
Match of the Century: the Spassky-Fisher chess match as an endurance card game
Watergate: thematically-sound and hilarious
Try Bumbleberry ale from Fat Head!
One of my favorite Capstone games is Beer & Bread, so we’re spotlighting regional brewery Fat Head’s Bumbleberry ale! It’s sweet, fruity, and creamy, but fresh—a lovely companion to our hot honey chicken sandwich or our signature smashburger and a game of Beer & Bread.
