Share and share alike
There are hard things in the news every day, ever hour it seems. Ads tell us to “protect what’s yours” and so often we end up feeling like there’s not enough of anything to go around. Scarcity is a real fear—any particular area might truly struggle even though the planet actually overproduces.
Earth is abundant in so many ways—the oxygen we breathe, the love we have, the art and science we continue to produce. And sharing what we have seems to make it even more abundant. Trees form ecosystems among their roots with the mycelial network to share nutrients so the whole forest thrives, neighborhoods pitch in to support neighbors and parks, coral reefs regenerate by sharing resources. It’s wild how our preschool lessons about sharing were so accurate!
I’ve heard from so many people that this weekly email is important to you—do you share it with friends who might like reading it? Folks who might like to come to Free Parking to eat and play and share a table with friends they haven’t met yet? (Don’t forget our green flags—put one on your table to invite someone new to sit with you!)
Bring your friends, bring your enemies, and bring your kids!

Play Reef!
Reef invites 2-4 players to strategically build their own colorful coral reefs to score points. On your turn you either draft a point card, or use one of the cards in your hand to get chunky reef pieces and score patterns. It rewards some forward thinking as well as nimbleness—players need to be planning patterns but also be willing to abandon them once scored to build another. It’s relaxed, but still requires your brain.
We added Reef to the library after our most recent community board game swap—keep your eyes peeled for the next one!
Try our crab won tons!
They’re delicious, as you know—crab and cream cheese and scallion and lemon zest fried up crisp and served with our sweet chili sauce. And, of course, they’re the inspiration for our famously all-dumpling restaurant theme…
Share some with friends over a game of Reef!

Game Passports for the kids
Did you know that we have game passports for the littles? It’s true! They get their very own passport with a list of family-weight games and some rules (of course)—each time they come in, they can get stickers in their passport for up to two games played here in the bar. When they get 6 stickers, they get a little toy, and when they get 12 stickers, they get a sweet treat! Ask your librarian for one next time you’re here.
